Tarrytown NY Sleepy Hollow
The villages of Tarrytown and Sleepy Hollow New York grew by about 845 people over the last ten years, according to the 2010 Census. On average, Tarrytown grew by about 1.6 percent, while Sleepy Hollow grew by 6.6 percent. That puts Tarrytown below state and county averages and Sleepy Hollow well above them when compared to the 2.7 percent increase for the county and two percent increase for the state.
While the amount of Latino/Hispanics grew the most in terms of raw population counts in Sleepy Hollow (up by 885), Asians were the fastest growing group, up 64 percent over the last ten years.
In Tarrytown, the growth of the Latino/Hispanic population, by 467, was the largest growth in any single group, up by about 20 percent.
Over the past ten years, both Tarrytown and Sleepy Hollow shed white residents, a loss of about 7 percent of the white population in Tarrytown and about 11 percent of the population in Sleepy Hollow.
Both villages saw a slight upward trend in the amount Black/African Americans residents.
County-wide, Westchester's population was up slightly, from 923,459 in 2000 to 949,113 in the current census.
