Mortgage Applications 30 Year 15 Year Refinancing
Dec. 28, 2006 - Mortgage applications during the week ended Dec. 22 were down 15 percent compared with the previous week, but were up 16.6 percent compared with the same week a year ago, according to the Mortgage Bankers Association. Refinancing volume decreased 18.5 percent from the previous week, but was 41.6 percent higher than in the same week one year ago.
The average interest rate for 30-year, fixed-rated mortgages increased to 6.12 from 6.1 percent the previous week. The average interest rate for a 15-year, fixed rate mortgage increased to 5.84 percent from 5.82 percent. The average contract interest rate for one-year, adjustable-rate mortgages increased to 5.87 percent from 5.82.
