So far in 2006, 44 percent of the homes sold in Riverside and San Bernardino counties have gone to buyers with Spanish surnames, up from 23 percent in 2000, according to DataQuick Information Systems, which tracks housing data. Real estate agents, home builders and economists attribute the growth in home buying among Hispanics to economic gains made by the children and grandchildren of immigrants.
