Orlando Florida 2007 Real Estate Marketing - Housing starts in the four-county area around Orlando will fall 17 percent in 2007, taking the pace back to where it was in early 2003, predicts Sean Snaith, a University of Central Florida professor of economics.
That still means 22,000 homes will be built in Orange, Seminole, Osceola, and Lake counties in 2007 well above the pace of the 1990s and early 2000s.
Both the statewide and Central Florida’s housing sector growth of recent years was never sustainable, Snaith says. He predicts that people will continue moving to Florida because employment will likely remain below 3 percent for at least the next three years. He says this will spark demand for new and existing homes.
